Jimmijo A. "Jim" Bruton, age 85, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery near Canton.

Jim was born January 23, 1925 in Golden, MO, to Walter and Lora (Sparks) Bruton.

He attended Washburn High School in Washburn, MO. He joined the U.S. Army Air Force in 1943 and served in Italy during WWII in the 180th Infantry.

Jim married Genevieve Fait Kinkner September 4, 1945 in Luverne, MN.

Genevieve died December 16, 2009.

The couple lived in Canton before moving to Missouri and back to a farm near Canton. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1960, where Jim worked at John Morrell and Company for 30 years, retiring in 1987. They moved to Beresford, SD in 2007.

Jim loved refinishing furniture, gardening, traveling, and collecting coins, many of which he gave to his grandchildren. He was a member of Beresford Baptist Church.

Those grateful for having shared his life are; sons, Leslie Kinkner, Sioux City, IA, Larry (Faith) Kinkner, Beresford, SD, and Ron (P.J.) Bruton, Little Rock, AR; daughters, Patsy (Jim) Stensland, Hudson, SD and Gay (Steve) Barslou, Rapid City, SD; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters: Norma Jean Harris, Washburn, MO, Polly Wilson, Cassville, MO, Mary Alice (Doc) Rose, Washburn, MO, Ruth Lay and Irene Overman, both of Seligman, MO; and one brother, Lloyd Bruton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Genevieve, and brother, Bob Bruton.
