Lyda Travis White

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Lyda Travis White, 94, of Providence, Ky., died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Ridgewood Nursing Home in Madisonville.
She was a 76-year member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church serving in many capacities as an ordained elder, choir member, Sunday school teacher and held many offices in the Cumberland Presbyterian women. She served on synodic and Prebyterial boards and edited a monthly newsletter for 17 years. She was a retired bookkeeper from the banking industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank White.
She is survived by her caregivers, Neil and Jenny Travis and Dennis and Sheila Travis, all of Providence, Jim and Donna McLemore of San Jose, Calif., and Philip and Bena Travis of Clay, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Melton Funeral Home in Providence with the Revs. Paul Stone and C. Alan McCutchen officiating. Entombment will be in Lakeview Mausoleum in Lakeview Cemetery in Providence.
Visitation will be after 4 tonight and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to St. Anthony Hospice, Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Providence Public Library.

She was member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a retired bookkeeper for the banking industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank White.
Survivors include Philip and Bena Travis of Clay, Neil and Jennie Travis and Dennis and Sheila Travis, all of Providence and Jim and Donna McLemore of San Jose, Calif., who were caregivers; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Melton Funeral Home in Providence. The Rev. Paul Stone will officiate. Entombment will be in Lakeview Mausoleum in Lakeview Cemetery in Providence.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice and Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
