** In Loving Memory of Beloved Hannah **
Hannah is loved, missed and remembered forever in our hearts.
Hannah grew up in the large Øverjordet family in Vinstra ,
Gudbrandsdalen Nord Fron Oppland Norway. Hannah married
Anton Olsen Mellemsdokken at the Sodorp Church
in Vinstra Nord Fron Oppland Norway
May 30, 1899. Hannah and her husband Anton Mellemsdokken Olsen
immigrated to the USA from Norway in 1901 with their young baby Alma.
The Family left Norway from Oslo ( Christiana). The were stuck in
Liverpool 10 days. They left Liverpool April 1901 on the SS Waesland.
They settled in Aldrich MN. There was much illness at the time, including
T.B. in both Norway and in America. America was the land of opportunity.
Anton's Sister Petra Mellemsdokken Olsen preceded Anton in
moving to America. Petra Married Peter Thurstison in Minnesota USA.
Peter Thurstison Sponsored Hannah and Anton Olsen's Family.
Anton's Sister Petra and her husband Peter Thurstison's family helped
them settle in Aldrich MN. (Wadena Co.)
Petra Olsen Mellemsdokken and Peter Thurstison moved to Minnesota USA
from Norway years earlier. Each family saved money to sponsor the next family
to immigrate to "America"
Name change from Olsen to Olson after Arrival to USA. (Some of their
Thurstiston family members changed to Thurston later)
Hannah and Anton Olson are survived by many relatives
around the USA including MN and Norway.

Hannah was staying with her Daughter Oline Olson Carlson's Family in
Mpls, Henn. Co. MN when she passed away.

--------

Hannah's name was spelled Gulbransdatter
in the Family Bible, as written in by
Hannah and Anton. Because of this spelling
in their Bible, our Family has her name
spelled this way. Norwegian custom would
often be Gudbrandsdatter. A 1875 Norway
Census from Nord Fron when Hannah was born
listed Hannah as "Gulbrandsdatter" and
spelled her Father's name as Gulbrand.
Many other miss spellings on that Census.
It appears Hannah kept that spelling with
the "L" and left off the "D". Hannah's
first name not in that report, only her
dob of 1875. When Hannah later lived
with her Father Gudbrand in 1900 at the
Øverjordet Farm, per the 1900 Census,
because he lived at the Øverjordet Farm,
they changed his last name to include
Øverjordet. Kari had the Øverjordet
name first as this was her Family property
before she married Gudbrand. ( 1875 and
1900 Census on Norway Digital AARKIVET-
search is complicated by miss spelled names)
Hannah birth place also spelled
Gudbrandsdahlen. Our Jordet relative
from Norway from the Hage Family
informed us that in Norway there
were different dialects including
using the "L". Same Person or Family,
or region, different dialect using
the letter "L".

Hannah and Anton, their children
lived in the Wadena MN area a long
time. Anton's Sister Petra and her
Spouse Peter Thurstison resided in
the Wadena area many years. Some
relatives still reside in the Wadena
area today. Hannah and Anton's
family home was at 304 Jefferson St.
Wadena. (now a Casey's Gas Station.)
Their late Daughter Oline Olson Carlson
loved to tell her story.... Especially
how the family from the same parents
one named Olsen have children who are
Olsen and Olson. The Olsen spelling got
changed during immigration to the USA.
Their Son Aless changed his name back
to Olsen, their Norwegian name, when
he was and adult. Anton passed away in
Wadena. Anton's 1949 Funeral Services
were at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena.
Oline took care of Mother Hannah as she
aged after Anton passed away in 1949
in Mpls,MN and until Hannah passed away.
All of the family gathered to spend time
together in Wadena and in Mpls, Twin
Cities area. Grandchildren and great
grandchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins,
her other children and their families
all had the honor and privilege to
spend time with Hannah. Our Family has a
short biography about Hannah and Anton's
life that Hannah's Daughter Oline helped
create with an adult grandchild who typed
the interview for her in 1999. Our beloved
Oline passed away when she was
98 yrs old in 2004.

Per Family, Anton and Hannah Olson
sponsored Peter's Family to immigrate
from Norway to the USA. We have heard the
family story about initial destination for
Peter Jordet's Family was Wadena.
Hannah and Anton Olson's Family spent
much time with Hannah's Brother
Peter Jordet's Family. Up until
Peter and Anne Jordet's Children
Harold, Mattie and Karen passed away,
our Family continued to spend time with
Peter's Family. Their children were very
closely bonded with each other. All
of us spent much time with Peter
and Anne's identical twin daughters
Mattie Jordet and Karen Jordet Anderson.
They were two of our Favorite cousins.
Mattie and Karen also helped our Family
write back and forth to Norway after
Anton and Hannah, Peter passed away.
Via Mattie and Karen's Findagrave

from the Vinstra Norway area recently
contacted us. See the photos sent

left home until after they retired.
All of our Family had the honor to

4. ** Hans G. Øverjordet 1873-
5. ** Anton Martinus Øverjordet -

spelling for our Family changed to Jordet in USA

The 1900 Nord Fron Norway Census has Hannah,Anton and Alma's Family in Herred, just before they immigrated to the USA. They were from Sodorp Parish before that census. Anton from "Sothorp" for his family on his 1875 Norway Census . Hannah grew up on the Øverjordet Farm. Anton grew up on
the Mellemsdokken Farm. Herred borders Oppland. Anton was from Sothorp S. N. Fron. Sodorp Parrish. Available on ARKIVVERKET Digital. In the 1900 Census for Hannah and
Anton, there was also reference to Ambjor Øverjordet dob 1833 , YRKE " Foderaadskone". The 1900 Census fron Herred included Hannah, Anton, Alma Kristine A. Øverjordet ( her daughter), Peter G. Øverjordet, Ole G. Øverjordet and Gudbrand H. Øverjordet ( dob 1853) . Hannah's Mother Kari had passed away in 1897. The search must be done using the Øverjordet spelling with the slash. Sothorp is Sodorp.

Hannah's Mother Kari P Øverjordet
Aug.22 1844 - Nov. 13, 1897
Kari passed away in Sodorp Norway and is buried at the old Sodorp Cemetery. Their Family was active at the Sodorp Parish. Vinstra Nord Fron Oppland Norway. Kari's buried at the original site before and the church was rebuilt in 1910-1920 down the hill in Vinstra. Hannah's Father is buried at the Old Sodorp Cemetery.

Hannah's Family and her brother Peter Jordet's Family immigrated to the USA. The rest of their relatives remained living in Norway. Hannah's Family, Peter Jordet, Peter's Daughters Mattie & Karen Jordet communicated with Family in Norway. Mattie and Karen visited relatives in Norway. They kept in touch with Hannah & Peter's brother Ole G. Øverjordet in Norway, other relatives there. Our family had lost contact after Mattie and Karen passed away with the ØverJordet Family in Norway until a MN Family trip to Norway in 2011. Mattie and Karen Jordet were fluent in English and Norwegian language. It is unclear as of this writing if Peter's Son's Harold or Arthur's Family have more info. At that time, the relatives they communicated with in Norway wrote in their language, didn't know English. As of 2014, our family, in Honor of Hannah and her siblings family is searching to re-establish those ties. ( Hannah's G. Grandson has been communicating with Olsen relatives in Norway the past few years with relatives in Bergen Norway)

Hannah and Anton's Daughter
Oline Marie Olson Carlson did
an interview typed by this writer
in 1999 about her Norwegian Roots.
This interview includes some of
Hannah and Anton's Family History.
Oline was elderly when we did the
interview. She did a great job telling
her Family's Story considering her age.
There is much more we should have
asked and will never know about
our family history. We also have
much more information we could
add now. The Interview is posted in
Hannah's Memorial. Oline was very
proud of her Parents Hannah and Anton.

Hannah and Anton's Twin Sons
Art and Harold Olson both
served in the U.S. Military
during World War II. Harold
was stationed much of his time
in Hawaii. Art was stationed
overseas including per our Family,
Normandy and Battle of the Bulge.
They could have been together but
Art feared his beloved brother
Harold would be stationed in the
dangerous zones Art was stationed
at. Per our Family Art was a very
highly decorated WWII Hero. Our
Family reports Art received many
Medals of Honor while he risked his
life serving our Country. Our Family
thinks two Purple Hearts, two Silver
and a Bronze Medal, if correct. Art's
children many know more. Both Art
and Harold were heros and risked their
lives to serve our Country during the
War. They were very humble, kind men
and did not brag about their many life
accomplishments or all they did to help
others... They and their Spouses were
great Children, Siblings and Parents
who raised a wonderful family....
Oline was always bragging about her
Brothers Art, Harold and Aless. Aless
tried to serve in the U.S. Military
but was not accepted due to a childhood
eye injury.
