Funeral services for Mrs. J. M. Barker, Sr., 87, a life long and highly respected resident of the Axton community who passed away Thursday night at her home near Axton following a weeks' illness were held from the late residence this afternoon.
Burial followed in the family cemetery near the home. Surviving are two sons, C. Gordon Barker of Axton and W. Henry Barker of New York City.
C. C. Barker of Martinsville is a grandson of the deceased.

Funeral services for Mrs. J. M. Barker, Sr., wife of the late Hon. J. M. Barker of Axton, were conducted from her late residence here Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Barker died following slow decline in health for several years.
She is survived by two sons, W. Henry Barker of New York City, at present on tour of the western states, and C. Gordon Barker of Axton.
One son, the late J. Monroe Barker of Axton preceded her to the grave by seven years.
The late Hon. J. Monroe Barker was the father of C. C. Barker of Martinsville.
Interment took place in the family burial plot near the residence following the services.
