Born in Ocala on April 15, 1910, she came to Mulberry from there at an early age. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Dietary Committee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bradley, where she was a member of the Usher Board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Akins. She is survived by her sons, Eddie Lockwood, Anniston, Ala., Obdulhio Mason, Plant City, and Rodell Colon, Fort Myers; daughters, Carolyn Childs and Gurshia Hardy, both of Lakeland, Marilyn Kennon, Pierce, Theresa Wilson, Fort Myers; 28 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home, Bartow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Bradley.
