Parents were Simmons "Sims" Richmond and Mary Polly Cornelius.
He was the husband of Rebecca Jane Moore.

Served on the Union side during the Civil War, Co F 7th KY Inf. Enlisted as Private on Sept. 22, 1861 at Camp Dick Robinson and mustered out as Sgt. on Oct. 5, 1864.
