Florence was born on February 28, 1910, to parents Peter Herbert Gauslin and Mabel (Wood) Gauslin. In February 1917, Florence's parents divorced, and she was sent along with her siblings Arvella, Herbert, and Gertrude to the State Public School in Sparta, Wisconsin. Florence was indentured to several families, but didn't stay with any of them for more than a few months.
Florence became ill with influenza and died on December 6, 1918. She was buried at the Child Center Cemetery in Sparta.
