Nancy moved to Kansas with her son, Richard, and his family in May 1885 and died three months later. It is believed that her body was shipped back to be buried next to her husband and son, because she was not buried in Kansas. There is a grave between Daniel and William where she was probably buried, but there is no record at the cemetery and no stone.

DIED.---In this city day before yesterday at 2 p.m., Mrs. N. M. Scheneck [Schenck], aged 65 years. The corpse was shipped to Cincinnati, Ohio, yesterday to be laid to rest by the side of her husband who had gone before. She had been sick for a long time with pleurisy. Her daughter arrived yesterday to visit her mother and had not heard of her death until she got off the train. The news was [a] hard blow that none can realize except those who have lost a mother. She took the last sad look at the face of the dead on the depot platform, and the scene was affecting, indeed, and brought tears to the eyes of many of those who were standing by.
