George W. Abston Buried At Union
George W. Abston, 84, died at his home in Columbia on Wednesday, April 12, after a prolonged illness. He was born and reared in Tennessee and was a son of the late Frank and Mary Rogal Abston.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtie Franklin Abston; two daughters, Mrs. Rudy Butler, of Columbia, and Mrs. Edith Whaley, of Knoxville, Tenn., and four sons, Walter and Beecher Abston, of Columbia, Dudley Abston, of Knoxville, Tenn., Ellia Abston, Leavenworth, Kans., and Robert Abston, of Statesville, N.C.
Funeral services were held at the Grissom Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning, conducted by Rev. Shirley Deacon. Interment was in the Union Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Roy Franklin, Hazel Blaydes, Walker McCreary, Chapman Montgomery, Ralph Willis and Bill Montgomery.
