Mrs. Mary Peters, aged 72, a highly respected citizen of Gilead precinct, passed away at her home Saturday, May 17, 1930, after an illness lasting five weeks. The deceased was a daughter of Rutger and Elizabeth Freesmeyer and was born in Hamburg precinct Dec. 6, 1858. She was united in marriage to Fred Peters in June 1875 and to their union nine children, 5 sons and 4 daughters, were born. Two sons and a daughter died in infancy. Three daughters and three sons, the aged husband, one sister, two brothers and 19 grand-children survive. Funeral services were conducted at the late home Monday afternoon of this week by Rev. Fr. Daly, pastor of St. Norbert's Catholic church in Hardin, assisted by St. Norbert's church choir and interment was in the White cemetery at Gilead. Mrs. Peters was a lovable lady and leaves a host of friends who with the surviving family, deeply mourn her passing.
