BERNE BOY DIES OF PNEUMONIA IN FRANCE
DECATUR, Ind. Feb. 21 A severe blow was the message that came to Mrs. Emma Reusser, of R. R. 4, Berne, apprising her of the death of her son [sic], Private Omer Reusser, engineer, which occurred in France of lobar pneumonia, Feb. 8. Only a few minutes before the telegram, the relatives received a letter written by him Jan. 28, from Bordeaux, France, in which he said he was feeling fine. A letter was also received by a cousin, Miss Adine Gilliom.
The deceased, who was 29 years of age, had been overseas since March 14, 1918. He had left home for the army Sept. 21, 1917, going first to Camp Taylor, Ky., and then to Camp Grant.
He is survived by the widow, Emma R. Reusser, to whom he was married July 31, 1917, and one child, Omer William.
Besides the wife and son, the parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Reusser of Berne and the following brothers and sisters survive: Adam, Emma, Mahala, at home; Mrs. Andrew Habegger, Berne; Elmer, of Chicago.
