After the war, Jasper taught school at Penfield, GA. While there he was convicted of "sin" and locked up in his room for three days and three nights without food or water.
After returning home to TN, he became the Methodist minister in one of the oldest Methodist congrations in the upper Cumberland section at Pleasant Grove.
