Casualty of the Great War, Albert enlisted in the 1st/4th Norfolk Regiment in Norwich on 15th September 1914, service no.2918. He served in the Dardanelles and was killed in action at Gallipoli on 12th/13th August 1915 aged 20. He is remembered on the Attleborough War Memorial. He was a son of Robert and Clara Shaw, and the brother of Private Robert Shaw, service number 2919,i.e.consecutive to Albert's so they must have enlisted together.
Robert was also in the 1st/4th Norfolk Regiment and he fell at Gallipoli just over a week later.
