HARRIS - On 31st July, killed in action at the Dardanelles Lieutenant Colonel Hubert J. I. Harris, V.D., 5th Light Horse Regiment, beloved husband of Leila Margaret Harris, Kedron Street, Wooloowin."
Shell Green, Anzac Area (Gallipoli). c. 1915-08. Four graves in the cemetery marked by crosses, rows of rocks and shell nose cones. A cross on a grave behind the pine tree has the name Harris painted on it. Lieutenant Colonel Hubert Harris, 5th Australian Light Horse Regiment (5ALH), was killed in action on 1915-07-31. Included in the inscription on the cross on the grave in the foreground are the words 'In memory of RSM ?Clarke ... Pts ... Sewell ...killed in action May 1915'. 238 Private Edward Sewell, 9th Battalion, was killed 1915-05-20. Note the shell nose cones formed in a cross on the ground in front of the grave and another on the mound of the grave itself. Note also the telephone pole in the background.
