143 Squadron's Bristol Beaufighter (#JM279) aircraft, with an aircrew of two, took off from RAF North Coates on a training flight. JM279, flying at a low altitude, crashed near Filey in North Yorkshire and taking the lives of both airmen.
The casualties of this accident were-
RAAF Flight Lieutenant Robert AGNEW and
RAFVR Sergeant Harold Benjamin BLACKWELL.
