Doris Lorene Edge
Funeral services for Doris Lorene Edge, 78, of Fort Cobb were held Wednesday,February 5, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb with Rev. Charlie Blount officiating.
Doris was born November 4, 1924 at the family home near Ft. Cobb to Claude Ney and Myrtle Una (Daniel) Meek and died Sunday, February 2, 2003 in Carnegie.
She married Roland Hildreth Edge on July 24, 1945. Together they spent 57 1/2 years as partners on the family farm near Ft. Cobb and were blessed with two children.
She was a wonderful mother, homemaker, a great cook, dressmaker and a joyous, loving grandmother. Many people have been blessed by her warm laughter, kindness and loving spirit. She was active in the ministry to infants and children, both in her home and with state programs at Oklahoma Baptist Camp Hudgens and The Boys Ranch. She also participated in mission trips to share the love of Christ in Spain and Honduras.
She is survived by her husband, Roland Edge of the home; one daughter, Sandra K. Edge-Boyd and son-in-law, Bruce W. Boyd of Mustang; one grandson, Daniel Marcus Edge Boyd of Mustang; one daughter-in-law, Janet E. Edge of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Clarence Meek of Mulvane, Kansas, Dale Meek of Belle Paine, Kansas; one sister, Ethel Walker of Mulvane, Kansas; two aunts, Idell Harris of Fort Cobb and Anna McKenzie of Yuba City, California; a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jerry DeRuse Edge; her parents; one brother, Austin and one sister Dora Fay.
Burial was in the Fort Cobb Cemetery under the direction of the Fort Cobb-Hackney Funeral Home in Fort Cobb.
