Mollie Sturgill, 86, of Norwalk, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, in the home of her great-niece and care giver, Debbie May of Greenwich.

She was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Hueysville, Ky., daughter of the late Malcolm and Arminta (Allen) Horn. She attended elementary and secondary school in Kentucky and graduated from New Haven High School, New Haven, Ohio, and returned to Kentucky. She attended Lee's College in Jackson, Ky., and graduated from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, in 1970 with a Bachelor's Degree in education. She was an educator and had taught in Berlin-Milan Public Schools and retired in 1986 from New London Public Schools. She enjoyed reading, current events, politics, history and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Sharon K. and Alex MacNicol of Milan and Charlene Sturgill and Elaine Sturgill, both of Norwalk; her grandchildren, Sean MacNicol, Blake MacNicol and Vanessa Schaller; and by her great-grandson, Mason Schaller.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Joe Sturgill in 1985; by her brothers, Morton Horn, Orville Horn, the Rev. James Horn and Grant Horn; and her sister, Edith Price.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Bob Hudberg will officiate. Interment will be in Milan Cemetery.
