An apprentice blacksmith in 1901. A career soldier in 1911. Died of wounds. Medals returned as no next of kin. Robert's foster parents -- William Hindle died in 1909 and Mary (nee Crossland) died in 1912. The Hindles lived at Hagg Farm for most of their working life.
