Isaiah was the son of Thomas Bowen and his first wife Nancy Agnes Crea. Thomas was born in Parish LLangennech, Carmathen, Wales on 17 April 1747. Thomas came to the United States and settled in Pennsylvania. He married 2 times Nancy being his first wife. Thomas and Nancy were married 22 March 1768, Muddy Creek, Pennsylvania. Thomas twice served in the Revolutionary War. Thomas died on 19 December 1810.
Thomas's second wife was Elizabeth Spicer Bowen (8 June 1762-8 April 1854). Thomas and Elizabeth were married 16 October 1791.
