Rushville Republican, May 19, 1904, p. 4: "Zephaniah Ross, aged 73, died at his home on Hannah street, about 10:30 last evening [May 18] after a long illness. He leaves a family of four sons and two daughters, Gash Ross, Harry Ross, Ed. Ross and Maggie Tucker living in this city. The funeral services will be held tomorrow morning after a short service at the house by Rev. V. W. Tevis. A daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Daniel Sheffe, will be buried at Osgood, Saturday."
From the Indianapolis Journal, May 20, 1904, p. 3: "RUSHVILLE, Ind., May 19. - Zephaniah Ross, aged seventy-two, died last night at his home in this city. The death of his daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Sheffee, at Indianapolis, preceded his by only a few hours.
