Obituary from the Minneapolis Star (published 6/15/1937):

"Mrs. Bessie Ruby Blanchard, 85, of 3511 Russell avenue north a resident of Minneapolis since 1919, died Monday. She was born in East Machias, Maine, December 24, 1851, and came to Minnesota at the age of 18. She lived in Anoka county and the city of Anoka before moving to this city.

Mr. Blanchard is survived by four sons, Henry A., Fred W., and David L. of Minneapolis; Alan L. of Forest Lake, and two daughters, Mrs. Maude L. Skillings of Middleboro, Mass., and Mrs. Edith L. Skillings of Minneapolis; 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Blanchard was a member of Mary A. Livermore Circle of the Ladies of the G.A.R. at Anoka. She was a member of the Vine Congregational church and was active in church work many years. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Thurston chapel in Anoka and burial will be in Anoka."
