Robert was born to Jay & Doris (Springer) Henke. He was the brother of Arlene, Jay, Roger and Wendal.

BERGLAND, MICH. - Robert "Bob" Dale Henke of Bergland, Mich., formerly of Baraboo, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital, in Madison. Bob, the son of Julius and Doris (Springer) Henke, was born on Nov. 1, 1930, in Excelsior Township. He was united in marriage to Shirley Repka on Feb. 16, 1952, in North Freedom and they were blessed with six children. Bob had been a dedicated member of the Wisconsin National Guard for 23 years. He was also employed at Forest Products Wood Center in Madison and later as an Inspector for the Badger Army Ammunitions Plant, south of Baraboo, until his retirement in 1985. After retiring, he convinced Shirley to give up her job at JCPenney's in Baraboo and move with him to their home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as playing cards. He had been a member of the Southern Snowmobile Association and the Eagles Club and served as President for a short time. Bob was a wonderful family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Henke of Bergland, Mich.; children, Joni (Mark) Matteson of Madison, Bobby Henke Jr. of Bergland, Mich., Jerry (Linda) Henke of Portage, Jay Henke of Reedsburg, Sara (Tony) Osborn of Lyndon Station and Kim (Dan) Hahn of Loganville; grandchildren, Taylor, Jacob (Nicole), Ben (Jamie), Maggie (Matt), Tyler, Nick, Gretchen, Jenny, Kim, Haley, Hunter, Dalton, Sawyer, Courtney and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Isabel, Macy, Avery and Treyten; special family friend, Lynda Whelan; other relatives and many, many friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Roger and Wendall. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, in Baraboo, with Pastors Deb and Steve Ohrtman officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services, at the church. Interment will follow the service in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. The family would like to express their appreciation to St. Mary's MICU.
