He was born June 11, 1916, near New Knoxville. He was the son of William and Ida (Stienecker) Meyer. On Feb. 6, 1940, he married Lucille Hirschfeld, who survives near Botkins.
Also surviving are his children, Nancy (Dwaine) Palser of Covington, Patricia (Willard) Platfoot of Minster and Ned (Mary) Meyer of Botkins; daughter-in-law, Joyce Meyer (James) Raterman of Sidney; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Bertha Miller, of Lima.
Preceding him in death was his son, Don Meyer; great grandson, Ramsey Meyer; brothers, Victor and Walter Meyer; and sisters, Evelyn Moeller, Ruth Meyer and Adelma Drake.
Mr. Meyer was an active member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville, where he had served in the many offices of the church. He was a member of the Compromise Grange of Hardin and was a past Master of the Grange. He was a farmer his entire life and enjoyed woodworking, making numerous projects.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville with Pastor Charles Moeller officiating. Burial will be in the Loramie Creek Cemetery, Botkins.
Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services on Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contribution may be made to the church memorial fund or to the Senior Independent Hospice at 6520 Poe Ave., Dayton, OH 45414.
