Auburn - Billie W. Adams, age 80, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on March 1st with family by her side.

Billie was born in Neeses, South Carolina on February 20, 1930. She attended public schools in Neeses until her family moved to Orangeburg, South Carolina. She graduated from Orangeburg High School in 1947. After graduation she attended Draughns Business College in Columbia, South Carolina, while working at various businesses in Orangeburg.

Billie married William R. Adams Jr. on August 4, 1950 in Orangeburg, South Carolina and enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. They had four children and she devoted herself to being a homemaker and mother.

After her family was grown she continued her education at the University of Maine, Augusta and received an Associate Degree with distinction. Billie was a talented and creative person who, over the years, has enjoyed many different hobbies. These included flower arranging, tole painting, oil painting, watercolors, sewing, rug braiding and counted cross stitch. She also enjoyed writing poetry and scrapbooking. Her joy in her hobbies was to give finished works to her family and friends.

She loved traveling with her husband and together they visited all 50 states. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Auburn.

Besides her husband, William R. Adams Jr. of Auburn, she leaves her children Constance Irland and husband Lloyd of Wayne, Maine, W. Ray Adams and wife Lynne of Greene, Maine, Carl Adams and wife Martha of Lewiston and Kay Allcroft and husband Kevin of Orrington, Maine; her grandchildren Amy McCaslin and husband Robert of Shawnee, KS, Erik Irland and wife Jessica of Rockland, MA, Elisha Irland and wife Reicher of Tagaytay, Philippines, Johanna Irland of Wayne, Maine, Tara Adams of Yarmouth, Jake Adams of Portland, Parker Adams and wife Colleen of Auburn, Benjamin and Matthew Adams of Lewiston, Kyle Allcroft of Brewer and Kody Allcroft of Orrington, Maine; great-grandchildren Declan and Braedan McCaslin of Shawnee, KS and Maxwell Irland of Rockland, MA; and her sisters Margaret Irick of Orangeburg, SC and Betty Bonnette of Neeses, SC.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Schooner Estates and The Hospice House and especially to her friends Dina Brochu, Sandy Petruska and Kim Walsh.

Funeral Notice Adams, Billie W. 3/1/10. Visitation at The Fortin Group / Auburn Thurs. 5-8 pm. Funeral at United Methodist Church, Park Ave. in Auburn Fri. 11 AM.
