Mrs. Sallie Burton Jared, wife of P Y Jared, died on Monday, February 16, 1931.
She was the daughter of Alex Burton, one of the pioneer families of Putnam County at old Pekin. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church near Gentry; she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the church for 25 years, and a member of the Cookeville Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She leaves, besides her husband, two sons; Collie, at home and Sam Jr of Washington, D.C.
Funeral services were performed by Rev E M Steel, pastor of the M E Church, with burial in the City cemetery.
Sam Pendergrass Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
