HELENA - Webster Bridges, 85, of Helena, an Army Air Corps veteran and retired Montana Highway Patrol captain, died of cancer Aug. 7 at a Helena care center.
Webster was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Shawmut, Mont., on the family ranch. After graduating from Billings Senior High School, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946.
He married Kathryn Hunter, and three children were born of this union.
In 1946, he attended Montana State University and later returned to the family ranch. He then joined the Montana Highway Patrol, retiring as a captain in 1987.
He married Audrey Jennings on Nov. 9, 1962, and acquired two stepchildren.
Webster belonged to the Algeria Shrine, Scottish Rite and Masonic Lodge. He was a master craftsman, and loved golf, Western art and the outdoors.
He is survived by five children, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, a sister, and two grandsons.
