Elkhart Lake—The funeral of Philip John Conrad, who died Thursday morning, will be held Sunday at the home and at St. Paul's Evangelical church in the town of Russell. The Rev. J. Klingeberger will officiate.
The immediate cause of Mr. Conrad's death was due to hemorrhage of the brain. Last winter he suffered a stroke and was seriously ill with an attack of Bright's disease. At that time it was feared he would never be able to walk again. This spring, however, Mr. Conrad's condition was much improved and he was able to take long walks daily until Tuesday, when he became seriously ill.
He was born in Russell on November 9, 1869 and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Conrad. On February 16, 1905, he was united in marriage with Miss Louise Haas of Franklin. The couple always lived in this town on the farm which was part of the Conrad homestead.
Mr. Conrad is survived by his wife, one daughter Miss Esther, and five sons, Arno, George, Oscar, Philip and Valentine, all at home; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Diefenthaler of Elkhart Lake, and Mrs. Eva Hartman of Fredonia, and by two brothers, Jacob of Russell, and John of Fredonia. One brother, Valentine Conrad and four sisters, Mrs. Rose Schnuelle, Mrs. Mary Stange, Elizabeth and Kate Conrad, preceded their brother in death.
