PLAINS – Funeral services for longtime Plains resident, Ann Welch, 63, were to be held (Thursday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Plains which Pastor Jeff Kingery officiating. Interment was to follow in Plains Cemetery. Visitation was to be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Coffelt-Bunch Funeral Service Chapel in Plains.
Mrs. Welch died of natural causes Saturday, July 30, 1994, at Bellevue (Wash.) hospital.
She was born Nov. 19, 1930, to J.E. and Mamie Lanier, at Manchester, Ga., where she grew up and attended school. Ann and Glen Welch were married May 29, 1955, at Bennettsville, S.C. They moved to Hot Springs in 1956, and to Plains in 1973, where she has resided since.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Hot Springs. Ann enjoyed arts and crafts, especially needlepoint and ceramics.
Survivors include her husband, Glen of Plains; a son, Jimmy Welch, Spokane, Wash.; a daughter, Tootie Welch, Plains; a granddaughter, Melissa Welch, Spokane; two sisters, Mary Arnold, Manchester, Ga.; and Glenda Warner and husband, Larry, of Savannah, Ga.; three brothers, Kirk Lanier and wife, Connie, and Donnis Lanier, all of Warm Springs, Ga.; and Hugh Lanier and wife, Betty, Stockbridge, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Aiko Lanier, Plains; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, W.L. and Ronnie Lanier.
