Louis Antoine Treyvoux was born in Lyon, Rhone, Rhone-Alpes, France. He was the son of Francisque Pierre, a "fourreur" (furrier), and Eleanore Buys. He followed in his father's profession and ultimately moved to Paris, France with his business. At an unknown place and date he married Marie Celestine Eugenie Burlot. They had five children in Paris.
Andre Louis (m) b. 1887
Estelle Suzanne (f) b. 1888
Marcelle (f) b. 1890
Louise Andree (f) b. 1893
Marcel Edmond (m) b. 1896
Louis' wife, listed as a dressmaker in the ship's manifest, immigrated alone to New York arriving August 9, 1903 on the ship, La Champagne. Louis followed with daughters Suzanne and Andree arriving October 24, 1904 on the ship, La Gascogne. His contact in the United States was his brother, Charles L. Treyvoux, a passenger agent for the French Line, Compangie General Transatlantique. Louis died at his New York residence about three short months after he immigrated. His death certificate states he was fifty years old, married, and retired. He died of complications brought on by chronic bronchitis. Unfortunately, he did not live to see his daughter, Suzanne, marry Louis Chevrolet of engineering and race car fame in July of that year. Rest in peace, Louis Antoine Treyvoux, you are no longer forgotten.
