English Ambassador. Born the son of Elizabeth Saltonstall and Richard Wyche of London. He received a knighthood from Charles I in December 1626, and was appointed the Crown's ambassador to Constantinople the following year. He married Jane Meredith in April 1627 before his departure. He remained in his post until 1641, and upon his return to England he was appointed Privy Counselor and Comptroller of the Royal Household. He was reported to have lent the King some £30,000 at the outset of the English Civil War. He died only two years later.
