Shirley is survived by her husband Thomas, and children,(2) sons Brian and Shawn Calhoun both of Galesburg and a daughter, Julie (John) Sheldon of Gladstone, Ill. Sshe was a loving grandmother to her five grandchildren, Buddy Warden, Faith, Jewel, Mackenzi and Brent Calhoun, and (2) g-grandchildren, T.J. and Matthew Warden.
She had twin sisters, Lee (David) Tressell, and Lynn (Ronald) Searl of Greer, S.C. and her stepsisters, Debbie Stanley of Makanda, Ill. and Jean Wolfe of Geneso,Ill.She was preceeded in death by her parents and her step-mother, Barbara Schlaf Thompson and a step-brother, Steve Stanley.
Shirley graduated from Corpus Christ High School and received an Associates degree in Nursing from CSC. She worked as an RN at St. Mary's Hospital and at HHCC.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.She also was a member of TOPS #IL408 Galesburg serving as area captain for Knox Co. for several years.
She fought a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma for over 14 yrs. and had participated in various activities promoting cancer awareness,
She loved her "puppy dogs", Brutis and Louise.
She did many crafts and excelled in it.
Her family was her life.
She loved her grandkids.
