Colonel Stevens owned the first permanent dwelling, "The Stevens House." It was built in 1849 near St. Anthony Falls. The house was the first wood frame dwelling built west of the Mississippi. In this house, our city was named "Minneapolis" and Hennepin County's government structure was formed.
Stevens was a Developer of the City of Minneapolis.
