College Football Hall of Fame Member. Born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, he was standout All American college football player. Playing halfback for the University of Minnesota (1932-34), he led his Gopher team to a perfect eight-game season record and the National Championship in 1934. In 1958, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He died at age 81 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
