Jane Sharum was the daughter of George Alexius Sharum and Rachel Standley. She married Henry Clay Dye (born 1840 in Mercer Co., KY), on Aug. 13, 1859, in Dover Hill, Martin Co., IN. They moved to MO.

They had the following children: Ruann Dye Lane Chaney, John Dye, Maybelle Dye Stafford Tatum, William Dye, Frances Fanny Dye Gott, Flora Dye Claird Mullins Clark, George Dye twin of Richard E. "Dick" Dye, and Ollie Minnie Dye Huitt.

Henry Clay Dye ran off to Arkansas with a younger woman--Amanda Roxie Harper (who was the children's babysitter); they had the following children: Allen Leamond Dye, Ramey Dye, Arthur Dye, Delbert Dye, and Stella Dye Maltby.

Jane was forced to raise her children alone with some help from her sons George and Richard "Dick" Dye. They moved from Missouri to Oklahoma.
