William A. Boeding, 83, formerly of Houghton and the Kensington, Fort Madison, and most recently of the West Point Care Center, West Point, died at 12:40 p.m., Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison.
He was born April 5, 1914, at Glad Valley, So. Dakota, the son of William and Mary Wellman Boeding. He maried Charlotte M. Sanders, Feb. 2, 1942, at Minneapolis, Minn. She preceded him in death, Jan. 5, 1992.
He was a retired farmer and correctional officer at the Iowa State Penitentiary. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both in Houghton.
He is survived by three sons, Neil, Fort Madison, Bryan, Burlington and William J., Altoona, Iowa; six daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Jo) Newton, Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. David (Marita)Meith, Indianapolis, Ind., Bonnie Sewart, Bettendorf, Iowa, Mrs. Larry (Bernadette Johnson, Huntington Beach, Calif., Laura Boeding, Marion, IA and Elaine Thoman, Iowa City, IA; 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild; two brothers, George, Faith, So. Dakota, and Raymond, Donahue, IA; and five sisters, Mary Beer, Mobridge, So. Dakota, Gertrude Pollpeter, West Point, IA, Veronica O'Hora, Larchwood, IA and Rosanna Derksen and Frances Lampe, both of West Point, IA.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers Herman, Leonard, John and Vincent and one sister, Genevieve Linderman.
Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, in Houghton, Iowa.
