Services Were Friday for John Burkhardt -
Funeral services were held Friday April 16 at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul for John Burkhardt, 75 of St. Paul.
Mr. Burkhardt passed away Wednesday morning in a Grand Island hospital after a short illness.
He was born May 9, 1895 in Germany and came to America with an uncle in 1910. He settled in Merrick County.
He and Minnie Petzoldt were married February 9, 1922 at Worms. They lived on farms in the Worms and Archer communities and in eastern Howard County until they retired in 1960 and moved to St. Paul. Mrs. Burkhardt passed away in October of 1970. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Margaret Meyer of Grand Island and Mrs. Anna Forbes of Palmer; six grandchildren; one step-sister, Mrs. Henry Markworth of Chapman, and a step-brother, Herman Albers of Spokane, Wash.
