WALL MONUMENT - SOUTH CHAPEL, S. E. CORNER. Also known as the 'Eyre Chapel'. Alabaster monument, rectangular in outline, in memory of Elizabeth EYRE, painted to resemble the oak labelling of Sir Robert Eyre's monument with the figures of Thomas and Elizabeth EYRE in double aedicule kneeling face-to-face in prayer at a desk. on the rectangular apron below... are the children, 8 sons and 6 daughters. The sons are Robert, Giles, Xpofer, Thomas, William and John. Th e daughters are Elizabeth, Katherine, Anne, Mellor and Rebecca. The three children, who died in infancy, Nicholas, Thomas and Ellynor, are all depicted wearing loosely folded shawls, small lace collars and baby bonnets.
