MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Lucille Eads Tate, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 27, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Tate was born July 22, 1925, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Conse Lee and Leatha Maude Dollyhigh Eads. Lucille was a homemaker and a member of White Plains Friends Meeting. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Levia Midkiff Eads of Winston-Salem; and her nieces and nephews, Dr. Marsha and Tony Bledsoe, Karen and Monty Vernon, Bobby and Frances Nichols, Grady and Carolyn Nichols, Hal and Yvonne Nichols, and Ginger Collins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her husband, Ray D. Tate; a sister, Myrtle Waugh; four brothers, Glenn Eades, Gray Eads, Roy Eads, and Fred Eads; and two nephews, Wayne Nichols and Charles Eads. A graveside service will be held Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at 2 p.m. at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jake Penley officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to White Plains Friends Meeting, P.O. Box 3, White Plains, NC 27031.
