Inez J. Adkins-Bolen-Cook of Matheny, departed this life on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the age of 95, at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Cook was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and being with her family.

Born January 6, 1915 at Glen Fork, she was the daughter of the late Allen Jackson Adkins (1875-1961) and Rebecca E. Brooks-Adkins (1885-1970). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Garrett Bolen; and her second husband of 55 years, Thomas B. Cook (1928-2005); five sisters, Ethel M. Adkins-Gamble (1906-Deceased), Ila Adkins-Powers (1917-Deceased), Thelma Adkins-Acord (1907-1991), Nola Cynthia Adkins-Sanders (1911-2000) and Alta Adkins-Cook (1914-Deceased); three brothers, Clarkson "Clark" Adkins (1909-Deceased), Willis Adkins (1922-1992) and Herman Adkins (1926-1993); a special daughter-in-law, Margaret Bolen (Deceased); and a special son-in-law, Ernest Francis Jr.

Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Noel Bolen & wife Barbara Bolen of Springboro, OH, and Norvel Bolen & wife Darlene Bolen of Jesse; daughter, Evelyn Bolen-Francis of Glen Fork; three sisters, Audie Adkins-O'Brien of Dublin, VA, Opal Adkins-Francis (B. 1925) of Glen Fork and Janet Adkins-Pruitt of Sabine; eleven grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; and twenty one great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Inez's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 in the Evans Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ernest Francis III officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Lashmeet.
