Mrs. Bergeron - Pioneer Citizen of Eunice is Dead.
Mrs Joseph Bergeron, Sr,, a pioneer residence of this city, died Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at the home of her daughter & son-in-law, Mr & Mrs Ephraim (Alice) Miller, at the age of 75 yrs following an extended illness.
The deceased was one of the first settlers in Eunice, coming here 33 years ago, before Eunice was incorporated as a village. She was the mother of 13 children and is survived by 42 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren,
Funeral services were conducted at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Monday morning at 9 o'clock with the Rev. Fr. Petit officiating. Interment was at the catholic cemetery (St. Paul's Cemetery) The funeral was largely attended by relatives and the many friends & acquaintances of the family.
Mrs. Bergeron is survived by the following children: Joseph Bergeron, Jr., of Iota, Theophile & Julien Bergeron, Mrs. Armand (Aurore) LaVergne, Mrs. Ephraim (Alice) Miller & Mrs. Joseph Benjaman (Latisia) Francois of Eunice, Adolus D. Bergeron of Oberlin, Henry & Lucien Bergeron of New Orleans, Mrs. Adam (Estelle) Amy of Lake Charles, Mrs. Armand Pierre (Orena) Fuselier of Port Arthur, Texas, Amos Ernest Bergeron of Beaumont, Texas.
