From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Thursday, November 26, 1914, p. 11:

A sudden attack of heart disease caused the death of Alex Hunter, 68, at his residence, 1315 Sixth avenue, on Wednesday night. He was one of the early comers to Fort Worth and had been identified with the city's life during the past forty years.

Hunter was apparently well Wednesday. He left home in the morning and spent the day in town attending the afternoon service at the tabernacle. He was sitting before a fire at 7 o'clock when he suddenly reeled over, and expired before a doctor arrived.

Hunter came here forty years ago from Dickson, Tenn., his birthplace. He opened the first bathhouse here. Later he conducted a big dairy in what is now Marine, North Side. After that he spent six years on a farm six miles from town on the Azle road. He next conducted a restaurant on Weatherford street, retiring from that business four years ago.

He is survived by Mrs. Hunter; daughters, Mrs. J. B. Pittinger, Mrs. C. M. Cherry and Misses Ruth and Elsie Hunter; a son, Bert Hunter, and a brother, B. F. Hunter, all of Fort Worth.

The funeral was held from the residence at 2:30 this afternoon, interment in Greenwood.
