MRS. HENRY ROTH CALLED BY DEATH
Death came suddenly to Mrs. Henry Roth at her home near Beaver Crossing Saturday morning. Although Mrs. Roth had been in failing health and was under the doctor's care, her condition was not considered serious.
Funeral services were held Monday at the West Fairview Mennonite Church with Rev. Wm. Eicher officiating and Rev. J. E. Zimmerman and W. A. Eicher assisting. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Out of town members of the immediate family who came to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. Roth, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Wenger, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Rensberger and families and Mrs. Emma Roth of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
OBITUARY
Mary Guth Roth was born in Tazwell County, Illinois December 9, 1871 and peacefully fell asleep at her home near Beaver Crossing on September 13, 1941 at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 4 days. In her early youth she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and united with the Mennonite Church of which she remained a faithful member till death.
On December 14, 1893, she was united in marriage to Henry Roth. To this union, ten children, four sons and six daughters were born. They are Ben J. of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Alvin J., who passed away at Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Perry Troyer of Waterford, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Noah Graber, Mrs. W. W. Beckler and Ezra of Beaver Crossing, Clarence C. of Wayland, Ida at home, Mrs. Emery Wenger of Wayland, Iowa and Mrs. Jacob Y. Rensberger of Wellman, Iowa. She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, six daughters, two half-sisters, Mrs. Peter Riel and Mrs. Phoebe Lauber of Tofield, Alberta, thirty-two grand children, one great grand child and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 27, 1932, her son Alvin on June 21, 1941, and two grandchildren.
She was a devoted companion, a loving mother, much concerned with the spiritual welfare of her children. She will be greatly missed in the place she leaves vacant.

After the death of Mary's mother in 1878, she went to live with her Uncle and Aunt Christian & Elizabeth Guth in Washington, Illinois. Mary lived with them until marring Henry Roth in 1893.
