John Smith, Sr., age 88, of Smyrna Hill Road, Waterloo, died August 14, 2010 in the Laurens County Hospital, Clinton.
A son of the late Willie Smith and Eloise Anderson Smith, he was a member of Smyrna AME Church, a member of the Steward Board, a class leader and president of Son of Aid Lodge #62 and a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of Jeptha Masonic Lodge #27.
He is survived by his wife, Leola Cunningham Smith of the home; four sons, Willie Harvey Smith of Columbia, Charlie Smith and Bruce Smith, both of Waterloo, and Grady Smith of New Mexico; two daughters, Ruby Cunningham and Tammy Smith, both of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
