In Loving Memory of William (Wilhelm) Dauth…

He was the husband of Kate Steiger and father to John Peter Dauth who sadly was the only surviving child of his into old age. My grandmother's family story said her dear grandmother Kate would say J.P. was the only pebble left on the beach. Kate and William Dauth lost children at tender ages except John Peter and William Jr. at age 30. A few other young children are to be confirmed with research.

The only source for his birthday is the inscription on his monument of May 28, 1842. All other records give 1842 or 1843. His age at death from his certificate gives 54 years and 8 months. It does not give days, so it calculates to June 2, 1842. The town he was born in is from two of his sons William and Georg's baptism records from the First German Presbyterian Church on Rivington Street in NYC. I hope to locate his German birth record.
