Ida McCargar, 89, passed away Sunday, January 18, 1998 at Fairchild Medical Center. She had been in failing health for several years.
Ida Alice McCargar was born June 27, 1909 in Grants Pass, Ore., to James and Lydia Wertz. Her mother's family were early pioneers in the Rogue Valley, homesteading in the Griffin Creek area near Jacksonville, Ore. Ida married Dana H. "Mac" McCargar in 1932. The McCargars moved to the Grenada area in 1943. After retiring from ranching and going into the insurance business, the McCargars moved to Yreka in 1957. Ida was preceded in death by her husband in 1988.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Dillon and son-in-law Jim Dillon of Yreka, granddaughter Dana Dillon of Weed, granddaughter Laurie Walker of Sacramento, grandson Jim Dillon and his wife Debbie of Klamath Falls, sister and brother-in-law Helen and Troy Hopson of Yuma, Ariz., and a niece, nephew, and grandniece.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 21 at Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka. Girdner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
