Emmit Owens, age 66, of Houston, died Saturday, October 3 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 8 at 2 pm at Bethlehem M B Church, Houlka. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery with Rev. William B Laier officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clevis Owens of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Thornton of Tupelo; four sons, Charles Emmit Owens of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Johnny R Owens of Monroe, Louisiana, Ellis H Owens of Houston and Willie C Wise of St. Louis, Missouri; four sisters, Minnie Morris of Verona, Clotte Moore of Houston, Elnora Harris of Tupelo and Adelle Jernigan of Nettleton; two brothers, Willie C Owens of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Willie F Owens of Tupelo and nine grandchildren.

Agnew-Watts Funeral Home of Baldwyn, is in charge of arrangements.
