Oroville Mercury, Saturday Evening, March 20, 1920, pg 1 col 4: Nicholas Able [sic: Abel] Passes Away in Wyandotte. Nicholas Able, one of the oldest pioneers in this section of the state passed away this morning at 2:45 o’clock, at his home in Wyandotte, where he has lived for nearly sixty years.

Mr. Able was eighty-four years of age and was a native of Germany. He came to this country when but a child and during his long years of residence in this county has acquired a host of friends who will be grieved at his passing. Besides a large number of friends, he leaves many relatives. A brother, John Able, lived with him at Wyandotte and about a week ago another brother, Mickel Able, of Minnesota, accompanied by a son and daughter, arrived in Oroville for a visit at the Wyandotte home of the deceased.

The funeral will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the undertaking parlors of Reynolds & Thomas, thence to St. Thomas church where a requiem high mass will be said for the repose of his soul, commencing at 10 o’clock. Interment will be made in the Oroville Catholic cemetery.
