He was the former principal of Forest Park Junior High School and served on the Bureau of Pupil Services.
He was also the principal of Sinai Temple Religious School.
Born in Port Chester, N.Y., he lived in the Springfield area since 1938 and was a member of Sinai Temple for many years. He received his bachelor and master's degrees from Springfield College.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and attained the rank of captain. He later attained the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves.
He leaves wife, the former Lillian Meyers; two sons, Dr. Robert and Dr. Gary, both of Longmeadow; three brothers, Benjamin, David and Samuel, all of Florida; a sister; Bess Cairo of New York; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Sunday afternoon in City of Homes Cemetery . Harold R. Ascher & Son Memorial Chapel is in charge. A memorial observance will be at the home of his son, Robert, 595 Laurel St., Longmeadow, with evening services Sunday and Monday.
