Floyd 'Bud' Beaver passed away from complications due to pneumonia on September 6, 2010 in Porterville, California at the age of 96.

Bud was born in Harrah, Oklahoma on April 20, 1914 to Yettie and Cora Beaver. He graduated from East St. Louis High School in Illinois. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Sea Bees from 1942 to 1945 with the rank of Seaman 1st Class.

Bud worked many years as an ironworker, building bridges and overpasses in the Los Angeles area. At the age of 68, when most men are in their retirement years, Bud went to work in Alaska on the pipeline.

Bud had a love for the Lord, his family and for his friends that was evident to all that knew him. He committed his life to the Lord when he was 44, which was older than most people, but the desire to know the Lord was strong in his heart and he brought numerous friends and family members, including his mother Cora, to commit their lives to God during his lifetime. He read his Bible daily and could quote scripture quite well when needed in any situation.

Bud was a very generous person, always giving to those around him whether they were family or friends. When he saw a person in need he was always ready to help with his labor or his finances. He seemed to be able to realize when a person was in need without them asking for help.

He was a member of West Culver City Baptist Church many years ago and was a member in good standing of Living Word Fellowship Church in Porterville before his death. He was very much loved by the congregation, especially the children, who would rush to seek him out on Sunday services for his hugs and encouragement he would give them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters; Lennie, Trudie, Dee, Birdean and Lola; and by his brothers; Lawrence, Jack, Art and Vernon.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 2:00 - 7:00 PM - Myers Chapel.

Chapel Service will be Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00 am - Myers Chapel. Internment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
