Ralph Walker, 77, South Irving St., prominent Greenville businessman, and former city councilman, died this morning at his home after a short illness. Mr. Walker, secretary and treasurer of Eureka lumber Co. since 1922, was born at Trufant Nov. 22, 1887. His parents were William and Rose Walker. He had lived in Greenville all of his life with the exception of eight years spent in the upper Peninsula. Active in community affairs, Mr Walker served on the city council for 18 years. He was city clerk for five years and acted as mayor pro-tem between the terms of Ferris Petersen and Larry Brown. Mr Walker was a life member of Greenville Lodge No. 96, F&AM, and a charter member of Greenville Lions Club and Sigma Theta fraternity. On Nov. 19, 1918, he was married to Dora VanOss. She survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Virginia) Wood, Greenville, three sons, Charles and Lloyd, Greenville, and Arthur, Sturgis, two brothers, William T. and H. I., both of Greenville, 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hoffman Funeral Home. The Rev. Fr. Edward J. Bielskas will officiate. Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
